Hannah Harley
(Born: 04/19/1999   Shaken:11/07/2001   SURVIVOR)

Hannah was born in April of 1999. She is the only child of our youngest Son. Our Son and his wife (Biological mom) were separated at the time of Hannah’s abuse.  At 2 years of age, Hannah began being abused. After several abusive events over the next few months, the bio-moms live-in-boyfriend shook Hannah a second time. Hannah was shaken at 2 ½ years of age. The last shaking resulted in the traumatic injuries Hannah lives with today.

Hannah suffers from approximately 50% loss of brain matter. 85% of her left hemisphere is gone. Even though Hannah has devastating injuries and ADD, she is able to attend public school (which she just loves). Hannah is learning to compensate somewhat, by use of the uninjured portions of her brain.

After Hannah’s abuse and a 3 month recovery in the hospital, she was released to her loving Grandparents custody (my Wife and I). Hannah has been with us since that day, in a loving caring atmosphere. We moved to the country where Hannah has more room and freedom to safely live and play. Hannah’s Dad sees his daughter almost every day.

After almost 3 years from the date Hannah was shaken, the perpetrator was found guilty in a court of law. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Hannah will be serving a life sentence.
