Kimberlin West
(Born: 03/11/1993   Shaken: 05/05/1993   ANGEL: 02/10/1996)

One day on May 5, 1993 a little girl named Kimberlin West was a little fussy because she had just gotten her 6 week old shots. She was home with her sister Kayla and her father. Her Mom was at work. Kimber was crying hard because she didn’t feel good when all of a sudden her father picked her up and started shaking her non-stop. Kayla started screaming at him to stop, but he wouldn’t stop. Then her mom walked in from work. She ran up to him and made him stop.

The next day their parents got divorced. After her Dad shook her, Kimber became blind, brain damaged, and she was in a wheelchair. Kimber and Kayla spent every waking moment with each other. Then on February 10, 1996 Kimber died in her Grandmothers arms. Ever since then Kayla and Kimber’s Grandmother (Janet Goree) has been trying as hard as she can to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome and she is doing a wonderful job at it. But Kayla, her Grandmother, her Mom and especially Kimber’s lives have been changed forever.

We will all miss Kimber as a sister, a daughter, and a granddaughter.

As told by her Kimber’s sister Kayla
