Rodney Bergeron served with the Irving Police Department for 30 years.  During his career with the Irving Police Department, he was assigned to the Patrol Division, Community Services Division, and the Criminal Investigations Division.  In the Community Services Division, he has worked as a School Resource Officer and was assigned as a Detective in the Adult Investigations Division.  In the Criminal Investigations Division, he served on the Gang Unit working gang enforcement.  Det. Bergeron was last assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit where he investigated missing person’s cases and crimes against adults, including the elderly and persons with disabilities.   He is a licensed TCOLE instructor and trained new recruits and fellow officers.  Rodney retired from the Irving Police Dept. in December 2015.  Rodney has embarked on a new career in the newly formed Special Investigations Division of the Texas Department of Family Protective Services as a Special Investigator assisting with Investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, mostly with Child Protective Services, with plans to include Child Care Licensing and Adult Protective Services in the future.
Rodney Bergeron is often invited to provide training for professionals who work crimes against persons including law enforcement, prosecutors and DFPS personnel.  He periodically speaks to community groups about child and adult abuse issues and other law enforcement related subjects.
