For over 17 years, The Shaken Baby Alliance has partnered with leading experts in the field of child abuse, along with agencies throughout the United States to produce Best Practice training to meet the needs of over 16,700 multidisciplinary professionals. Our training is based on the philosophy that professionals with a strong foundational understanding of the medical aspects of child physical abuse and neglect, and forensic investigative techniques, will be provided with the tools necessary to investigate, prosecute, and ultimately protect children. We provide participants with instruction on the best practice standards related to forensic investigation techniques of child physical abuse, child death, and child neglect cases including forensic markers, information needed to understand the mechanism of injury, questions to ask, and not ask the medical practitioner, symptoms in child physical abuse and their importance, how to complete a thorough forensic child physical abuse investigation including photography and scene investigation, timeline development, detailed interview techniques, and tips for testifying effectively. To sustain the high quality, up to date training for which SBA is known, we continually use evaluation data and feedback from participant surveys to improve the content and curriculum. Our development team and training faculty is composed of MDT members including medical providers, law enforcement, educators, and consultants who are recognized as state and national experts in the field of forensics and child abuse death. All of our faculty actively work cases in the field of child physical abuse/neglect and child death. This approach ensures our training mirrors our philosophy of the importance of the MDT in all aspects of the training program.
We are happy to tailor a program to your needs.
