About us
Our Mission
The mission of The Shaken Baby Alliance is to provide SUPPORT for victim families and professionals, PREVENTION of child and elder abuse, and JUSTICE for the innocent victims.
SBA was founded on a Fort Worth kitchen table by three mothers whose children were victims of Shaken Baby Syndrome and could find no resources or support. We obtained our 501(c) 3 status in 1998 and meet our mission with three programs: Victim Family Support, Professional Support (Training and Case Consultation), and Prevention Education.
We have served over 6,000 victim family members at no charge. We reach families left behind and not served by other programs. Our children and elders who survive physical abuse often have life-long disabilities due to their injuries. For those whose children or loved ones are deceased, the grief never ends. Many of our families have been served 20+ years and SBA has helped with various needs from birth through adulthood.
SBA’s award-winning training programs have taught best practice standards using evidence-informed curriculum to over 28,000 professionals in the field of forensics. We have provided technical support on over 2,000 cases, requested by investigative and legal professionals on complex physical abuse and death cases.
Our When Babies Cry…We C.O.P.E. child abuse prevention program, developed in partnership with the State Bar of Texas Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect has been delivered free to over 11,000 students so they learn how to cope with crying – the #1 cause of child physical abuse.
