Prevention Education Programs
There are many risk factors when it comes to Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) and Abusive Head Trauma (AHT), some include young parents, premature babies, unstable family situations, low socioeconomic status, and child-care providers with limited experience with child care development.
- Hospital Based SBS Prevention Program (Scheduled for release in 2019)
- When Babies Cry…We Cope (Middle & High School SBS Prevention Program)
- When Babies Cry…What Can I Do to Prevent SBS? (Community SBS Prevention Education)
Our Prevention Education Program targets hospitals, students, and community members. The Shaken Baby Alliance (SBA) has collaborated with nationally recognized experts to further prevent abuse to children to develop evidence-based curricula targeted to health care professionals, students, and community members.
In 2007, SBA and the State Bar of Texas Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect combined forces to produce a DVD entitled “When Babies Cry, We C.O.P.E.” Available in both in English and Spanish, SBA provides this DVD to over 2,000 community members annually, including teachers, child care providers, youth organizations, community members, and professionals who request a copy. Numerous hospitals have requested the DVD and show it internally to provide education related to coping with crying and prevention of child abuse.
For your copy of When Babies Cry, please contact us at info@shakenbaby.org or call 817-882-8686. The cost is $25.00 per DVD plus shipping. Proceeds from the sale of this DVD go to support all program areas for the SBA.
