Donna Wright

Donna Wright is a Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and an adult and pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.  She has been a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Manager of the C.A.R.E. Team at Cook Children’s Medical Center since March 2000.  This specialized unit provides assessment, referral, and diagnostic services for all forms of child maltreatment.  Ms. Wright received her BS (1987) and MS (1997) in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.  She earned her Graduate Certificate in Forensic Nursing from Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences of the University of Colorado (2007) and the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate (2008). Ms. Wright holds numerous certifications including Certified Adult and Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Certified Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and Registered Nurse.  She is a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners.

Ms. Wright previously was Clinical Instructor of Nursing for the UTA School of Nursing and was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Private Practice from 1997 to 2000.  She has served on the Curriculum Development Team of The Shaken Baby Alliance for over 10 years and has provided input on all aspects of the curriculum.  In addition, she provides education and training to medical providers, law enforcement, TDPRS employees, and prosecutors on a regular basis.  She has lectured on various child maltreatment topics statewide and at international conferences.  Donna is the mother of two adult children and a grandma of one grandson.
